About CajunFest

CajunFest is Edinburg’s most fun and successful fundraising event in the city’s history. CajunFest is the Rotary Club of Edinburg’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Revenues from CajunFest support various humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs at both the local and international levels.

Local programs recently supported by Edinburg Rotary include Boys and Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV, Buckner International, Career Pathways Service Project, Caritas Feed Fit N Read, Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo County, City of Edinburg Earth Day and Community Garden, Dustin Sekula Library, Edinburg Parks and Recreation Programs, Edinburg Park Bench Distribution, Foreign Exchange Student Program, Habitat for Humanity, Harwell Middle School Backpack and School Supply Donation, Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, Juan Diego Catholic High School, Palm Valley Animal Shelter, Projecto Azteca, RGV Fans for Friends Project, RGV Friends and Families of Murdered Victims, RGV Food Bank/Hunters for the Hungry, Ronald McDonald House at Edinburg Children’s Hospital, South Texas Juvenile Diabetes, Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest Scholarships, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Student-of-the-Month Program and Annual Scholarships to Edinburg high schools, UTPA Endowed Scholarships, UTPA Rotaract Club, Vannie Cook Cancer Center, Valley Relief Fund aiding flood victims in Louisiana, War Memorial of Texas, and 4-H Youth Leadership Camp.

International Programs target improvement of developing countries’ infrastructures, education, and health services. Edinburg Rotary’s assistance to the General Hospital of Reynosa, Mexico, Casa Amparo Orphanage and Casa Hogar Mami Orphanage both in Reynosa, Mexico, Guadalajara Adopt-a-Clinic, Days for Girls Hygiene Packets which are distributed to third world countries, and Edinburgh, Scotland’s Girls’ Toilet Project building toilets specifically for girls living in India are good examples. The Rotary Foundation’s world-wide efforts include the literacy and numeracy programs designed to educate those in developing countries to ensure that capable human resources are available for sustainable economic development. These efforts also include relief from natural disasters such as tsunamis and hurricanes. Among the most important of the International Projects is PolioPlus, which seeks to eradicate the polio virus from the world. Rotary, along with our partners has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. In addition, Rotary Foundation Programs empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

We are very grateful to those area businesses that sponsored CajunFest in 2017 and we hope you will want to assist us in 2018. Help us make our community and the world a safer and healthier.
